While the Turkish press reports that the rivalry between Turkey and Israel in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, Syria, the Middle East and the Black Sea has intensified and both sides have already become more aggressive towards each other, Israel's Consul General in New York is making statements targeting Turkey.
Ofir Akunis, referring to Tel Aviv's plans in Syria and Gaza, Turkey's desire to deploy soldiers in that area, as well as Israel's intentions to demilitarize Syria, described Turkey as an enemy state. "Turkey is Israel's enemy."
We should add that after the revolution in Syria and the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Turkey has established close economic and political ties with Damascus, and also wants to have a military presence in Gaza by joining the international peacekeeping group. Israel strongly opposes such intentions of Turkey, and the US, on the contrary, tries to soften Tel Aviv's harsh policy towards Turkey.
