Steven Witkoff, the US special envoy for peacekeeping operations, is expected to hold talks in Istanbul on November 19 with Khalil al-Haya, the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Ma'an news agency, which is affiliated with the radical organization, reports.
According to him, Witkoff will meet with the Hamas delegation in Istanbul, which, in addition to al-Hayi, will include "several other high-ranking representatives of the Palestinian movement."
As the agency notes, the negotiations between Trump's special representative and the leadership of Hamas indicate "the intention of the American administration to maintain direct ties with the radical movement."
