"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"The events that happened 17 years ago were discussed yesterday in the National Assembly. the topic of March 1, 2008 was discussed, and the representatives of the power structures tried to justify themselves by shifting the responsibility to their predecessors, former authorities or others.
The fact is that the European Court of Human Rights, in its judgment of September 18, in the case of "Farmanyan and others v. Armenia", recorded that during the events of March 1, 2008, the state violated the right to life, both materially and procedurally, and is actually responsible for the death of a number of victims.
After this verdict, the vice-chairman of the Human Rights Commission, Rustam Bakoyan, initiated a discussion in the plenary session hall of the National Assembly. However, "Zhoghovurd" daily received information that the real author of the idea of yesterday's discussion is CP deputy Andranik Kocharyan. The latter, according to the sources, refused to take this initiative personally, because the previous hearings organized by him were held in a tense and noisy atmosphere, leading to serious consequences. Narek Zeynalyan received an SMS about relinquishing his mandate and left the National Assembly, Argishti Kyaramyan, head of the Central Committee, the chairman of the Anti-corruption Committee, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Chairman of the Central Committee also left their positions. That is why there were reports that Andranik Kocharyan preferred to "appear" in the process through another deputy, the young Rustam Bakoyan.
Rustam Bakoyan, who until now had not publicly addressed the events of March 1, suddenly actively pushed forward in order to organize large-scale hearings on the same topic.
According to the same sources, the representatives of the power structures, the guests and the representatives of NGOs invited to the session were also chosen under the "leadership" of Kocharyan, and it was he who ensured their presence. "Zhoghovurd" daily tried to get a comment from Rustam Bakoyan regarding these issues. The latter told us in a conversation. "It is absolute nonsense.
The idea is mine, I carried out all the organizational work and the selection of the invitees. The idea of the discussion arose after the publication of the judgment made by the ECtHR in the case "Farmanyan and others v. Armenia".
I applied to the competent state bodies, my teammates, received a positive response and organized the public discussion. Considering the fact that Andranik Kocharyan was the head of the fact-finding group in the "March 1" case, I myself invited Mr. Kocharyan to participate in the discussion. It should be noted that in any case it was a discussion about nothing. because the murder of at least one of the ten victims of March 1 is still unsolved. Pashinyan has been in power for about 8 years."
