The Japanese government hopes that relations with China will return to a state of constructiveness and stability, given the current deterioration that began after Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's statements on Taiwan and Beijing's harsh response to them.
Takayuki Kobayashi, the chairman of the political council of the country's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDK), told journalists about this, commenting on the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, which warned its citizens not to travel to Japan.
"We should take a calm approach to what is happening. We will continue dialogue and efforts to make Japan-China relations constructive and stable," Kyodo news agency quoted him as saying.
At the same time, a Japanese government source told Japanese public television that China's decision was a surprise. He added that Tokyo will continue to explain to Beijing that Sanae Takaichi's remarks are not provocative and correspond to Japan's consistent position on the situation around Taiwan.
