The ceasefire in Gaza remains fragile, the Palestinian ambassador said

The cease-fire in the Gaza Strip remains extremely fragile because Israel does not abide by the cease-fire agreement, Salah Abdel Shafi, the Palestinian ambassador to Austria and Permanent Observer to the United Nations in Vienna, told RIA Novosti in an interview.

"The truce is certainly not stable. It is even very fragile. Since its signing, Israel has killed about 260 Palestinians in the territories under Israeli control," the diplomat said.

The cease-fire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10.

As part of this agreement with Israel, the Palestinian Hamas movement released 20 hostages that had been held in Gaza since October 7, 2023, thus freeing all surviving hostages.
