Lithuania has submitted an offer to Belarus to hold a meeting at the level of deputy heads of border guard services early next week, Ruslan Varankov, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, told RIA Novosti.
The initiative calls for consultations between the border agencies of the two countries. The exact date and place of the meeting have not yet been announced. Varankov noted that Minsk welcomes this initiative, but it does not solve the issue of border checkpoints being closed.
"We emphasize once again that considering the complex nature of this issue, its solution is possible only at the political and diplomatic level," the press secretary stated.
