Polish authorities have started construction of a second fence on the border with Belarus in Podlaskie Voivodeship, RMF24 radio station reports.
Installation of the fence will begin in the coming days, and completion is planned for January. The barrier will consist of a 4-meter-high wire mesh, on which barbed wire will be placed. In 2022, the Polish authorities closed a 180-kilometer section of the border with a 5.5-meter-high metal barrier, on which barbed wire was placed.
Outposts with motion sensors and all-weather cameras have been installed along the border.
The modernization works were completed in 2024.
