The countries of the Visegrad group (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland) intend to challenge in court their obligations to accept migrants within the solidarity mechanism of the EU migration pact, reports Euronews.
According to the rules adopted on Tuesday, EU member states are obliged to ease the "burden of countries under migration pressure". This can be done in three ways.
For example, accepting asylum seekers. The second option is to make a financial contribution of 20,000 euros to a special "solidarity fund" for each rejected migrant.
Finally, funding can be provided to countries hosting the largest number of displaced persons. The EU's minimum requirement was 30,000 migrants and €600 million.
However, Euronews reports that the Visegrad Quartet rejects all such scenarios and plans to take legal action against the new EU migration agreement.
