France has refused to disclose the number of nuclear warheads it has

French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin refused to say how many nuclear warheads the country has in its arsenal, noting that the country is increasing its defense capabilities in various areas.

"It is a secret. I will not tell you the number of warheads, it is top secret," he said on Europe 1 radio station, refusing to confirm the information about 290 warheads quoted by the presenter.

"But I can say that our country is really arming itself, arming itself in all areas, because if you look at the experience of Ukraine, it becomes clear that we need to arm ourselves in all areas, that is, with drones, anti-drone equipment, of course, but also with infantry and aviation.
Because we understand very well that it is necessary to do more in the face of the existing threat," he said.

In 2020, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the republic's nuclear arsenal is less than 300 warheads.
