Vice President of Turkey Cevdet Yilmaz announced that Turkey has submitted its candidacy to host the COP31 conference. He emphasized that Turkey is ready to assume the role of a bridge between the south and the north in the fight against climate change.
Vice President Yilmaz participated in the COP30 conference of the 30 parties of the United Nations "Framework Convention on Climate Change" in the city of Belen, Brazil, and made an opening speech.
"Climate change is no longer just an environmental issue. it has become a more complex global challenge that threatens our achievements so far towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Overcoming this global problem is possible only through strong international cooperation.
Ten years ago, we were united by common hopes and goals. today is the time to turn those hopes into practical results." Yilmaz also noted that this year the Turkish Parliament adopted the country's first "Climate Law".
