South Korea condemned the missile launch by North Korea

South Korea's presidential staff held an emergency meeting of the Ministry of National Security after North Korea launched a ballistic missile and condemned Pyongyang.

"In connection with the launch of a ballistic missile that violates the resolutions of the UN Security Council, the government strongly calls on the North to stop the activities that disturb the peace on the Korean Peninsula," the South Korean leader's office announced.

The National Security Agency assessed the preparedness of relevant agencies after the missile launch and ordered the necessary measures to be taken. The administration added that the situation has been reported to President Lee Jae-myung.

Earlier, the South Korean militaryhad reportedthat at around 12:35 local time (06:25 Moscow time) North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile from the Daegwan region of North Pyongan province towards the Sea of Japan.
