The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has expressed deep concern about Israel's military escalation, which threatens the civilian population and stability.
Military operations on such a destructive scale undermine progress towards a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict," UNIFIL's press service said in a statement.
The text states that these attacks are being carried out at a time when the Lebanese army is taking measures to confiscate illegal weapons south of the Litani River and eliminate the infrastructure of illegal entities. The UN peacekeepers call on Israel to "immediately stop the attacks" and call on the Lebanese parties to "refrain from any retaliatory actions that could further escalate the situation".
