Belarus rejected Lithuania's request

Minsk rejected the request of Vilnius to allow the Lithuanian trucks left in Belarus to enter Lithuania, BNS agency reports, referring to Mindaugas Bayarunas, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania.

"It was only about the possibility that Lithuanian trucks could return home through the Shalcininga regional checkpoint, but Minsk refused," the statement said.

Let's remind that on October 29, Lithuania closed the highway border with Belarus for a month due to the meteorological laboratories activated during the entry into Lithuania, with which cigarettes were illegally imported into the country, which threatened the safety of civil aviation and led to the periodic closure of airports. In response, Belarus banned the traffic of trucks and tractors registered in Lithuania and Poland from October 31. As a result, about 5 thousand Lithuanian trucks remained at the checkpoints of Belarus.
