The UN has helped almost 15 million Afghans in one year

The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General told RIA Novosti that humanitarian organizations have been able to provide at least one type of aid to approximately half of Afghanistan's nearly 15 million people.

This was announced by the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Afghanistan, Indrika Ratwatte, at the World Summit on Social Development held in Qatar. "This year, the number of Afghans in need of humanitarian assistance is estimated at 22.9 million people, and we have provided at least one type of assistance to approximately 14.9 million of them so far.

Of course, this is a very difficult task, because 22.9 million people make up almost half of the country's population," Ratwatte said. According to him, the UN is currently assessing the humanitarian needs in Afghanistan in 2026.
