Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
This is Takaichi's first conversation with Zelensky since he assumed the post of head of the Japanese government on October 21.
According to the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, their conversation lasted about 30 minutes.
"Prime Minister Takaichi emphasized that the position of ``Japan will stand by Ukraine'' will not change," said the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Takaichi also pledged to continue his "resolute support for Ukraine to achieve a just and lasting peace." The Prime Minister also expressed personal respect for Zelensky.
