Finland will increase the number of special forces

The Finnish armed forces are planning to increase the number of personnel of elite units, Iltalehti newspaper reports.

According to the publication, the number of servicemen in special forces units will increase in the coming years, as "significantly more positions will be opened for junior command staff." 60-80 candidates will be selected.

It is noted that special forces are participating in intelligence operations. If necessary, servicemen can be deployed not only within the country, but also to perform missions abroad. In particular, they can participate in international operations.

The Finnish armed forces select citizens under the age of 30 for conscription.

The course will last 12 months. The course includes firearms training, first aid and parachute flying.

The first election events are planned for January 2026.
