An avalanche hit Nepal's Yalung Ri base camp on November 3, killing seven people and leaving four others missing, the local Kathmandu Post newspaper reported, citing police.
"Among the dead are three US citizens, one Canadian, one Italian and two Nepalese," said Dolakha District Deputy Police Chief Gyan Kumar Mahato.
He added that four other people were injured. According to police, the avalanche occurred when a group of foreign and Nepalese climbers and their guides pitched a tent at the foot of Mount Yalung Ri, preparing to climb the highest peak of Dolma Khang (6,332m). Rescue operations are ongoing in the area.
