The incident took place in the southern part of the enclave. According to the Israeli side, the radicals crossed the so-called yellow line inside the zone, from where the Israeli troops had retreated according to the ceasefire agreement.
At the same time, the army emphasized that there was no mention of a ceasefire violation. The aim of the strike was to "eliminate the threat to the troops".
Israeli army units in the Gaza Strip "continue to be deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to take measures to counter any immediate threat," the statement said.
