Polish Air Force MiG-29 fighter jets took off this morning to intercept a Russian Il-20 plane flying over the Baltic Sea. The Minister of Defense of Poland, Władysław Kosyniak-Kamisz, told journalists about this.
According to him, the Polish fighters completed their mission at 10:49 Moscow time. "It (the Il-20 - TASS notes) did not violate the Polish airspace," the minister's words were quoted by the Wirtualna Polska portal.
A similar situation was also created on October 28, when two MiG-29 fighters of the Polish Air Force, which were on duty, visually identified a Russian Il-20 aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea and escorted it out of Poland's area of responsibility.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced earlier that all flights of Russian military aircraft are carried out in strict compliance with international airspace regulations.
