The European Union is considering the possibility of strengthening restrictive measures against Russia if Republican candidate Donald Trump wins the US presidential election. This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.
According to him, European officials want to be sure that the EU's anti-Russian sanctions will remain in force for an extended period of time, even if Washington decides to change course with the advent of the new administration. As the agency indicated, the measures under discussion may affect the freezing of assets of the Russian Federation and control over circumvention of sanctions. As the agency's interlocutors indicated, the EU also intends to add another 45 ships to the blacklist, which are allegedly carrying Russian oil, and to introduce restrictions on the import of liquefied natural gas gas from Russia.
