The deployment of UN peacekeepers in the conflict zones of Ukraine and the Gaza Strips is unlikely at a press conference in New Delhi, the Deputy Minister of Defense of India Viswesh Negi.
"The deployment of such troops in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip is very unlikely, taking into account the composition of the UN Security Council," The Times of India quotes Negi.
Negi stressed that the Indian military contingent in the UN peacekeeping forces is located only under the agreement of the UN Mandate and the UN Security Council.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapur said that almost 300,000 Indian servicemen have participated in 50 UN peacekeepers in the last 75 years.
