The next UN Secretary-General can be a woman for the first time, Bloomberg reports.

The agency said that the resolution adopted in September calls for UN members to "take seriously" when choosing candidates for the post of Secretary General. The possible candidates for the post mentioned in the article are former New Zealand Prime Minister Ghasinda Arrar.
In addition to ardue, three women can become candidates for UN Secretary General, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Kotlel, and UN Commissioner for Human Rights Michel Bachelet and UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed.
The UN Secretary General is appointed by the General Assembly with the recommendation of the Security Council. The General Assembly makes a preliminary election among candidates and can veto any proposed candidate. Technically, there is no restriction on the number of five-year terms of office, but no one has yet to hold more than two. The current ninth leader of the organization is Antonio Guterresh. He took his responsibilities on January 1, 2017.
