The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia invited the Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Latvia on September 21 and handed over a note, which provided a sharp complaint on September 19 on the violation of the airspace of Estonia's airspace by Russian military aircraft.
According to the report, three Tusterian MIG-31 military planes have invaded Estonia's air area without warning and permission in the Finnish Gulf region. They stayed in Estonia in about 12 minutes. The planes did not have a flight plan, flew off transponders and did not maintain radio at the Estator Dispatchers.
The Latvian Foreign Ministry described these actions as a gross violation of the 1944 International Convention of International Civil Aviation, emphasizing that they are not only a serious threat to civil aviation, but also contribute to the aggravation of the situation.
Latvia also reaffirmed its demand in the diplomatic note, to stop Russia's aggression against Ukraine, withdraw occupation troops from the entire international territory of Ukraine and compensated for the damages caused to Ukraine.
