Azerbaijan is taking a constructive steps to ensure peace and stability in its region, the Armenian President Ilham Aliyev, according to the opening speech at the Baku Security Forum, Azerbaijani media reported.
"One of the main goals of us is the creation of a new format of cooperation in the region, based on mutual trust, security and pragmatism. We are confident that the targeted activity in this direction will be a stimulus for further strengthening of partnership between neighboring countries in the future. As you know, a joint declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia has been signed in Washington on August 8, 2010. Thus, a major historic step has been taken to terminate the long-term conflict between our countries and concludes a peace agreement. Ensuring complete peace in the South Caucasus will create new opportunities for cooperation not only for our region, but also for Central Asia, Middle East and Europe. The joint activities of special services play a key role in preventing and resolving international security issues, "Aliyev said.
