NATO underwater infrastructure in the North Sea is vulnerable to external threats, Dutch Conme-Admiral Paul Floss said in an interview with the American magazine Newsweek.
Filoss claims that infrastructure in the sea, including cables and pipelines, are "extremely defenseless" and vulnerable, given the presence of Russia's navy and Russia's supposed "threat."
According to the publication, the security of underwater cables is a difficult task for NATO, as most cable and pipeline networks are used by private companies. Filis described the situation around infrastructure safety as extremely complicated and said that it is necessary to "expand cooperation with industry at all levels."
According to experts quoted by the publication, the disruption of electrical cables will cost $ 14 million a day, and the pipeline failure can cost dozens of billions of dollars.
