Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have signed a peace agreement in Washington. According to it, the ongoing conflict in the East Congo Democratic Republic will be stopped, and the United States will have the right to extract minerals in that country.
The official signature ceremony was attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubions and the Ministers of Democratic Affairs of the Congo and the Rwanda Foreign Ministers.
The peace agreement is based on the declaration approved by the two African countries in April 2025. It is noted that the parties undertake to "respect each other's territorial integrity" and to stop hostilities in the East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which have escalated after the M23 group attack. It should be noted that Rwanda denies the charges against Kigali to support the group.
