Peace without a ceasefire. Russia-Ukraine talks ended in exchange of 1,000 prisoners

Russia-Ukraine's first direct talks were completed after the war in 2022, without a ceasefire agreement. The parties only agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoner of war, which is still the biggest exchanges. Ukraine claims that the lack of a ceasefire is a serious obstacle to real negotiations.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubion and a number of European leaders also took part in the talks. After discussing Ukraine's President Zelenki, after discussing a number of European leaders, he called for severe sanctions on Russia if the latter continues to give up a full ceasefire.

At the same time, the Russian delegation presented "unacceptable new conditions", according to Ukraine, including the withdrawal of the armed forces. Negotiations will continue, but before that, Ukraine and its allies continue diplomatic pressure on Moscow, APNEWS reports.
