Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov presented MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov with the Order of Alexander Nevsky. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his congratulatory telegram to the teaching staff, staff, students, graduate students and graduates of MGIMO on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the university, stated that the MGIMO team was awarded the Order Alexander Nevsky for outstanding achievements in the educational and scientific fields.

On Monday MGIMO celebrates its 80th anniversary. This is one of the country's oldest university centers for training international specialists. Over the years of its operation, the university has trained over 40 thousand students, including more than 5.5 thousand foreign citizens. Among its graduates are famous politicians, diplomats, and journalists.
