Zelensky announced five days of attacks on the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region

The Russian military has been breaking through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region for five days, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on his telegram channel. “The Russians’ attempts to break through our defenses in the Kursk region continue for the fifth day,” he wrote.

The New York Times (NYT) previously reported, citing a report by experts from the DeepState group, which works closely with the Ukrainian army, that Russian troops in recent days have intensified efforts to oust the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Kursk region. In this regard, “not a very good situation” has developed for the Ukrainian military in this direction, the newspaper noted.

The NYT source said that Russian counterattacks are “constantly reducing the political significance of Ukrainian-controlled territory” in the Kursk region, and Ukrainian defense lines are “not holding up very well.”

The commander of the Akhmat special forces, deputy head of the main military-political department of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Apti Alaudinov, reported that the Russian armed forces had liberated about half of the territory that was occupied by Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region.
