The 2025 European Weightlifting Championships kicks off on April 13 in Chisinau, Moldova.
In the previous two years, the Armenian national team, the first place, participates in 20 athletes with 20 athletes and 10 women in the fights in men. There are changes in both athletes and weight categories compared to the previous championship.
Garnik Cholakyan will fight for 61 kg of men.
In the 67 kg weight category, Double European Champion Gor Sahakyan will fight 73 kg weightlers this year. Sahakyan also drag on the 2024 weightlifting championship and took the 8th place.
Rafik Harutyunyan will continue to fight in the 81 kg weight category.
The Mnatsakan Abrahamyan will replace Andranik Karapetyan in the fight against 89 kg of men this year.
This year, the current European champion Hakob Mkrtchyan will not see this year, the vice-champion David Hovhannisyan will be represented alone.
Ara Aghanyan and Petros Petrosyan will be replaced by Garik Karapetyan and Samva Gasparyan in the 102 kg of men this year. Garik Karapetyan will play in the 109 kg weight category, where we will see Simon Martirosyan again in the fight. In recent years, Martirosyan has been in the super-weight category, but returns to his closeness class.
The winner of the super-election men will perform in the current European and world champion Varazdat Lalayan.
The women's team has a binary representative in 5 weight categories. Among them is the current European champion Alexandra Grigoryan, who was recognized as the best young weightlifter of Europe in 2024. Isabella Yaylyan will perform with Alexandra in the 55 kg weight category.
Anna Amroyan and Milena Khachatryan will represent Armenia in the fight for women 76 kg.
This year, Emma Poghosyan and Margarita Arakelyan will play 81 kg, and Liana Gyurjyan, representing this weight class last year, will play with Tatev Hakobyan in the 87 kg weight category.
Julieta Avanesyan and Mary Tumasyan will compete in the struggle of the winners.
