Former President of Adygea Sovmen won a dispute with YouTube over the defense of honor

The court granted the claim of the former President of the Republic of Adygea, Khazret Sovmen, against the YouTube video service for the recognition of three videos, which speak of his attitude to the alleged theft of assets of a private vodka factory, defaming honor and business reputation, follows from the release of the joint press service of the regional courts.

The lawsuit concerns three videos on a YouTube channel with seven subscribers, which allege that Sovmen was involved in the alleged theft of assets of a private vodka distillery.

In the lawsuit, the ex-president of the republic indicated that on the video hosting channel he found three videos that reveal his personal data and also contain information that does not correspond to reality and discredits his honor, dignity and business reputation. In this regard, he filed a complaint with the defendant, but in an official letter he was told that the moderators had not identified any violations of the plaintiff’s rights.

"The court satisfied the claim of Sovmen Khazret Medzhidovich against YouTube LLC to recognize the published information as untrue, discrediting honor, dignity and business reputation. The court also ordered the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications to take measures to limit access to the specified information in the statement of claim," the statement said.

Khazret Sovmen led the Republic of Adygea from 2002 to 2007.
