Medvedev: Putin can answer Trump that Ukraine must capitulate

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wondered how feasible the plan for a settlement in Ukraine by former US President Donald Trump is. According to the Russian politician, Russian President Vladimir Putin may invite the American to agree to the surrender of Ukraine.

Medvedev, in his English-language account on X (formerly Twitter), quoted the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, who suggested that Trump, having called Putin, would say that “enough is enough.” The American ex-president himself boasted that he would end the conflict in Ukraine in just a few days or even hours."What if Putin says:

“Not now. Ukraine should capitulate and not join NATO,” Medvedev asked. The US will hold presidential elections in early November, and the Ukrainian conflict has become one of the themes of the campaign. Donald Trump, nominated by the Republican Party, points out the fallacy of the current Democratic administration’s line of supporting Ukraine, and also considers this unprofitable for Washington.

During campaign events, Trump repeatedly emphasized to potential voters his diplomatic skills and willingness to engage with any parties for the benefit of the United States. In particular, the candidate promised to resolve the Ukrainian conflict even before the inauguration if he wins. Trump refused to name the details of his peace plan. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov classified discussions on whether Trump could become a mediator in a settlement in Ukraine as speculation.
