Friedrich Merz, a candidate for CDU / CSU CSU, demanded that the current Government leader Olaf Sholts agree on all diplomatic statements and decisions, before leaving the post. The Bild newspaper writes about this.
According to him, CDU / CSU has sent a "Memorandum of Understanding" to the Federal Chancellor's Office, which requires not accepting important personnel decisions and restraint in foreign policy, citing the need to coordinate positions with Merz.
Sholts will take the position of Acting Chancellor to the formation of a new cabinet.
