From January 10 to 14, cases of fish theft were discovered as a result of measures undertaken jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs Police, Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Authority and the Eco-Patrol Service of the Sevan District of the Ministry of Environment.
This is reported by the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. On January 10, shortly after midnight, 105 whitefish with a total weight of 44 kg were found in a fishing boat coming out of the water on the shore of Lake Sevan near Tsovagyugh.
Two 51-year-old men from Tsovagyuh reported that they caught the fish and the boat and the fish were taken to the Sevan Community Police Department.
On the same day, at 10:40 a.m., patrolmen of Gegharkunik region stopped a "Mercedes" car for the purpose of inspection on the Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway. The driver and the car were taken to the Sevan Community Police Department.
90 whitefish weighed about 29 kg. The next day, on January 11, around 9:30 a.m., on the Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway, the water patrols stopped an "Opel" car for inspection, and they noticed a whitefish in its cabin and trunk. The man and the car took 270 fish to the Sevan Community Police Department weighed about 87 kg.
27 containers of fish were also found in the car. The 29-year-old driver from Noratus said that he got it from an unknown person. He added that 17 of the containers contained trout. On January 14, Gegharkunik patrols "VAZ-2107" was stopped on the river road for inspection a brand of car. The law enforcement officers noticed a plastic bag filled with fish in the interior of the car.
As a result of verification operations, it was found that the fish belong to the 44-year-old driver. 92 whitefish weighed about 49 kg.
On the same day, the patrols stopped a "VAZ-2106" car on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan road for inspection. Law enforcement officers found fish in the trunk. The 50-year-old driver was taken to the Sevan Community Police Department for clarification.
The weight of the discovered 317 whitefish was 83 kg. On January 14, the next discovery by Gegharkunik patrols was also on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan road. A whitefish was again found in the cabin of the "VAZ-2107" car, which was stopped for the purpose of inspection. The 30-year-old driver was arrested and taken to the Sevan Community Police Department. The 60 fish weighed about 22 kg.
The documents prepared in all cases were sent to the pre-investigation body.
