We allocated 160 million dollars for extending the work of the 2nd power unit of the nuclear power plant. TKE Minister

The works on the implementation of the project of the secondary extension of the period of operation of the Armenian NPP are being successfully carried out. About this in 2024. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Davit Khudatyan said at the press conference summarizing the results on January 9.

He informed that it is planned to allocate 165 million dollars for these purposes.

The official explained that the government is discussing options, and both financial and economic circumstances will be taken into account, as well as the period during which it will be possible to put the nuclear power plant into operation. He reminded that a new organization was created which will examine the applications, finalize the model of the nuclear power plant and supervise the construction works.

"We are discussing not only Russian and American proposals, but also other proposals, but there is no final decision yet," Khudatyan added.

According to his data, in 2024 8.9 billion kWh of electricity was produced in Armenia, of which 1.5 billion kWh was exported. He emphasized that 145 million kWh of electricity was imported into the republic last year.

Davit Khudatyan noted that in 2024 as of December 25, Armenia's airports served more than 5.2 million passengers and 41.4 tons of cargo. "Last year, the market was filled with five new air carriers," he noted.

The minister informed that 75 flights were made on the Kapan-Yerevan-Kapan route.
