Israel has begun withdrawing troops from Lebanon

Israel withdrew the first group of troops from southern Lebanon as part of the cease-fire agreement signed with the Shiite Hezbollah movement, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) reported.

The agreements reached in November imply that only the country's armed forces and UN peacekeepers will control the south of Lebanon, and the IDF and Hezbollah forces will completely withdraw from there within 60 days after the cease-fire.

"Michael Kurila, the head of the Central Command, attended the first withdrawal of the Israeli Defense Forces and their replacement by the Lebanese armed forces in Al-Khiam today," said a statement published on the X social network.
