At the last summit of the year to be held on December 19, the heads of the European Union countries and governments will discuss the situation created after the end of Bashar Assad's rule in Syria. This was announced by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.
"The topic of the European Council to be held on December 19 will be Syria," he wrote in X.
Costa said he was "in close contact with Middle East leaders on this matter to assess the situation".
"Respecting human rights and protecting minorities, as well as the country's territorial integrity are key for the EU," he added.
