The newly elected US President Donald Trump has announced that he will impose 100% trade tariffs on the goods of the BRICS countries if they create a new currency or abandon the dollar.
"The idea that the BRICS countries are trying to ditch the dollar while we stand by is over.
We demand a commitment from these countries that they will not create a new BRICS currency or support another currency to replace the mighty US dollar, or they will face 100% tariffs and have to say goodbye to the idea of selling the wonderful American economy." he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump claims that "any country" that tries to find a replacement for the dollar to carry out international trade will "say goodbye to America".
