On November 25, 2024, at 8:00 p.m., an alert was received from a citizen that his son with mental health problems refused to be taken to an appropriate medical facility, threatening him with a grenade.
Based on the alarm, the police officers went to the address indicated by the citizen and found out that the resident of the village of Nerkin Ptghni, Kotayk marz, refused to be taken to the medical facility and, holding a grenade in his hand, refused to submit to the emergency medical staff.
As a result of the explanatory work, the man put down the grenade, after which he was transferred to the Kotayk department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Police on the basis of a reasonable suspicion of possessing illegal weapons and ammunition.
Regarding the case, a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Abovyan investigative department of the Kotayk Marz Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, in accordance with Article 335, Part 1 and Article 194, Part 2, Clause 6 of the RA Criminal Code.
During the preliminary investigation, an inspection of the incident site was carried out, during which a grenade and a grenade-like object were found and taken, as well as a yellow-green substance resembling hemp in paper and a pipe and a yellow-green substance resembling hemp in half-empty rolls of "Belamorkanal" cigarettes.
A decision was made by the body implementing the procedure to arrest the mentioned person.
In order to find out the circumstances of significant importance in the criminal proceedings, a forensic and forensic technical examination was appointed, and in order to find out the composition of the found masses, a complex forensic examination was appointed.
The investigation is ongoing.
