The US, Britain, France and Germany welcomed the IAEA resolution on Iran

The United States, Great Britain, France and Germany issued a joint statement in which they welcomed the resolution of the IAEA Board of Governors criticizing Iran over its nuclear program. This was reported on the British government website.

The resolution, as stated in the statement, is a response to Iran's failure to provide information to the IAEA to clarify outstanding issues regarding undeclared nuclear material found in multiple locations in Iran. These issues are critical to the Agency's ability to provide assurances about the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.

Tehran, the statement emphasizes, is legally obligated, in accordance with its Safeguards Agreement of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), to fully cooperate with the IAEA and account for all nuclear materials and activities.

The US, UK, France and Germany are concerned about the reaction to Iran's resolution and expect the country to return to the path of dialogue and cooperation with the IAEA. The day before, the Board of Governors of the international agency adopted a resolution criticizing Iran for its lack of cooperation on the nuclear issue. Tehran's ambassador to the IAEA, Mohsen Nazir Asl, called it "politically motivated."
Russia considers this resolution a step in the wrong direction, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated. Earlier, the Iranian President announced his readiness to renounce the creation of nuclear weapons.
