Oreshnik missile strike will not have a deterrent effect on Washington's policy towards Ukraine

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. She also said that the United States warned Ukraine and its allies about Russia's upcoming launch of a medium-range missile.

Putin's press secretary Peskov immediatelyclaimedthat Russia did not inform anyone about its plans. But then he reported that Russia, 30 minutes before the launch of Oreshnik, sent the United States an automatic notification through the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center.

The Pentagon also confirmed that the US was warned by Russia about the Oreshnik test through nuclear security channels.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhy said that Ukraine has every right to hit military targets on Russian territory. “Ukraine has repeatedly used long-range capabilities against targets in temporarily occupied territories, but Putin only began to fuss when targets on Russian territory were hit. Consequently, he is well aware of the difference between Russian territories and the territories that he is trying to steal from Ukraine,” he said.

The United States sees no signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the White House said.
