November 10 is celebrated as Local Self-Government Day in Armenia. Congratulating on the 28th anniversary of the introduction of the local self-government system, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that local government bodies have a great responsibility to improve the lives of citizens, provide quality services in communities and make community life more efficient.
"To successfully self-govern, we must have sufficient potential and capacity to effectively use our resources and respond to new challenges.
This implies continuous education, training, modern tools and methods, such as competent work with artificial intelligence, which can replace 100s of consultation hours.
Full self-reliance and financial independence is an important prerequisite for real self-government. In this direction, we must contribute to the creation of such a legislative and economic environment that will enable local governments to ensure financial stability and be independent in decision-making.
All this requires cooperation between state and local governments, joint efforts and a common vision for the development and future of our country.
I am sure that together we can build communities where every citizen will feel dignified and protected, where community life will be more stable and prosperous.
Yerevan, being the largest community in our country, is ready to present its experience and support other communities so that all cities and villages of our country have the necessary opportunities to realize their full self-governance potential be strong and vibrant," the mayor said.
