Regular use of energy drinks is addictive and has a negative impact on health by destroying the nervous system, "Izvestia"cardiologist Yevgeny Kokin warned in an interview.
The expert explained that almost all energy drinks contain high doses of caffeine, which provide only a short-term boost without providing real energy to the body.
"Fatigue is eliminated by depletion of internal reserves, resulting in an 'energy debt.' After a few hours, the body reacts with depression, irritability and sleep disturbances." Regular consumption of these drinks leads to addiction and fatigue of the nervous system," Kokin explained.
He emphasized that the combination of caffeine, glucose and other stimulants is especially dangerous for teenagers. This combination causes sharp fluctuations in heart rate. It can also cause tremors, sudden fluctuations in blood pressure and irregular heartbeat.
Even more than the recommended dose of caffeine, which is about two standard bottles per day, can cause tachycardia and nervousness, as well as headaches and sleep disturbances. Furthermore, energy drinks can cause particularly serious complications in people with cardiovascular disease, hypersensitivity to stimulants, or sleep disorders.
