During the briefing, the diplomat was asked to respond to the statement of Shinjiro Koizumi, Minister of Defense of Japan, according to which there is a need for an open discussion on nuclear weapons in the country. "It's both funny and sad at the same time," commented Zakharova.
"I just want to clarify. "Doesn't Japan need an equally open discussion to preserve the memory of who and how used that very nuclear weapon against Japanese citizens?" he said.
