Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he holds "close to his heart" quotes from Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump regarding the agreements reached in Anchorage. "Regarding Anchorage, you know, I even hold close to my heart the quotes from the announcements made in Anchorage.
President Putin said that in Anchorage "we were asked to accept the compromises formulated by the Americans. We thought about it, not right away, but after we arrived in Anchorage we said we agreed.''
He expressed hope that the agreements of August 15 of last year will become the cornerstone of the resolution of the Ukrainian issue and the general development of Russian-American relations," he said during a press conference on Wednesday. "President Trump said: "We had an extremely productive meeting, we agreed on many issues, there are very few remaining issues that need to be finally resolved, some of them are even minor. One is probably the most important, but we have a very good chance to solve it," Lavrov quoted the American leader as saying.
The minister also mentioned another statement of the US president, just one day after the summit.
