"We saw during the pre-election phase how the apolitical army and the defense system were politicized, they became CP, and how Defense Minister Suren Papikyan became an active campaigner, but CP received the least votes in his native Stepanavan.
In the pre-election phase, they used the baton of training camps as a political tool, making participation in the 25-day training camps a sanction for RA citizens or oppositionists who came from abroad.
The army was used once again on May 28, holding a military parade and using it for auspicious purposes. The participation of the army was also significant on the voting day, when the officers led the soldiers in rows to the polling stations, even after the voting time had ended. Even after the elections, there are processes related to the army. In particular, we were told that the results of the voting of one of the military units did not satisfy the authorities, and now the army leadership is investigating which commander's station had "bad" results.
We were told that General Garegin Poghosyan, a native of Javakhk, "worked" in this direction with the greatest enthusiasm. Yesterday, we learned about another incident: Papikyan signed an illegal order to demobilize the two children of a PAP member woman in Stepanavan, who are military personnel.
