The US military shot down several Iranian drones in the Strait of Hormuz that it believed were trying to attack merchant ships, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a written statement.
"Iran has launched several unilateral attack drones in an attempt to target commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. US forces have shot down all drones in the past few hours, and shipping through the strait continues unimpeded. The international trade corridor remains open to transit," CENTCOM said in a statement posted on its website.
Earlier, Reuters, referring to its source, reported that the US shot down several drones that were moving towards the Strait of Hormuz.
