If Armenia leaves the EAEU, 40% of its trade turnover may be at risk

In case of leaving the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia may risk almost 40 percent of its foreign trade turnover. RIA Novosti came to this conclusion after studying the data of the national statistical services. If Yerevan refuses to join the EAEU, it may lose the trade privileges it received within the framework of the union. in particular, the common low 5 percent customs duty rate for member countries, as well as the right to import goods duty-free in some cases.

In 2025, Armenia received 3.2 billion dollars from the export of goods to EAEU countries. The main part of the trade income was formed at the expense of supplies to the Russian market - 2.9 billion dollars. At the same time, Armenian importers bought 5 billion dollars worth of goods from EAEU countries.

Russian products were mainly imported in the amount of 4.87 billion dollars. Thus, in 2025, the trade turnover between Yerevan and the EAEU amounted to 8.2 billion dollars, while with the rest of the world it was 13.2 billion dollars. This means that the trade with the Union countries makes up 38.5 percent of the total turnover of Armenia.
