Chinese President Xi Jinping also holds tea parties with other leaders, but it is a mandatory part of meetings with the Russian president to discuss the most sensitive issues, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian leader.
Putin arrived in China on an official visit on May 19. On Wednesday, the President of Russia and the President of China held talks in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. On Wednesday evening, the reception organized by Xi Jinping will take place, and the last item on the agenda will be a tea party conversation between Putin and the President of China.
"There is nothing exceptional about this, but it is an obligatory part of the meetings between Putin and Xi Jinping. They use it to discuss the most sensitive issues," Peskov told reporters.
