Apple's new AI tool will transcribe meeting, lecture recordings and create summaries

Apple's note-taking apps are about to get smarter. iOS 18 will have the ability to convert audio to text in real time and create summaries from text notes based on artificial intelligence technology. AB Assistant will be able to recognize voice in recordings and highlight important parts of texts.
As Appleinsider reports, Apple is developing an improved ability to transcribe audio and create real-time summaries based on recorded speech. This will apply to apps like Notes and Voice Memos, as well as some other apps. According to sources, Apple has already tested this feature in early versions of apps that will be released later this year as part of the iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 updates.
In particular, the ability to instantly transcribe audio recordings will be added to the Voice Memos application. To start transcribing, users just need to press a special button. Such a tool will appear in the Notes application. Furthermore, along with speech transcription, Notes will include a feature to automatically generate text summaries based on recorded audio. These notes created using AI technology will highlight the key points of the recording in real time, providing the user with a summary version of the text, meaning the user does not have to listen to the entire recording.  According to Apple, the enhanced combination of audio processing, transcribing and summarizing will make the Notes app a powerful tool for structuring a variety of information. The new features will significantly improve the productivity of students, journalists, writers and workers. They will allow you to record lectures, interviews, various ideas and get ready transcripts and summaries, saving time. In addition, to minimize errors during transcription and summarize information, the original recordings will be saved in the application together with the created text. This is done to avoid losing important data.
